From the very first batch in 2018, we complied with EU regulations, which ban over 1,300 ingredients linked to environmental or health concerns. The US FDA bans only 11. We chose the stricter standard, applied globally.

Most clean beauty brands reduce plastic by 30 to 40% and call it sustainability. INBAR+co eliminated plastic entirely from packaging. Every product. Every cap. Every spray component. Every shipping insert.
The decision was harder than it sounds. Aluminum costs more than plastic. Glass is heavier, adds shipping carbon. FSC-certified paper boxes cost more than virgin cardboard. Custom-designed aluminum spray nozzles took eighteen months to source.

Net-zeroelectricity footprint.
We pay 3% more for our electricity. That is the entire cost of the decision, and it eliminates the spa's electricity-based carbon footprint completely.
Marin Clean Energy's Deep Green tier sources 100% renewable energy from local Marin County wind and solar generation. The 3% premium goes to building more renewable infrastructure in our own region, not to offsetting carbon elsewhere.
Our HVAC, infrared crystal mat, sound therapy equipment, lab refrigeration, lighting, and treatment-room electronics all run on this renewable supply. The lab itself, where every INBAR+co formulation is developed, operates on the same Deep Green tier.

EU rules.Applied globally.
The US FDA bans 11 ingredients in cosmetics. The European Union bans over 1,300. The gap is not a technical disagreement about safety, it is a regulatory difference.
From our very first batch of Thermal Relief Cream in 2018, INBAR+co has formulated to EU standards. Not as a marketing position, as a basic safety floor. The same product is sold in California or Berlin. Same ingredient deck, same compliance.
The Responsible Chemistry framework that governs our lab work goes further than EU compliance alone: green chemistry principles, intact microbiome support, no petrochemical derivatives, no synthetic fragrances or dyes, no animal-derived ingredients in standard formulations.

Every decisionmatters.
Running a spa can be a resource hog. Cleaning chemicals, linen laundering, hot water, single-use towels, disposable tools, retail packaging, the operational footprint is much larger than most clients think.
Our framework is straightforward: always choose the reusable, green, plastic-free, non-toxic, organic option when one exists. When it doesn't, we work to source one or develop one ourselves.

- Treatment linens laundered with non-toxic detergent in cold water
